India is one of the largest
countries in the world with a population of 1,173,108,018 (July 2010
estimate). It is formally called the Republic of India and it occupies
most of the Indian subcontinent in the southern portion of Asia. India
is the world's largest democracy and along with China it is one of the
world's fastest growing countries. It is however, still considered a
developing nation.
The culture of India is the way of life of the people of India.
India's languages, religions, dance, music, architecture, food, and
customs differ from place to place within the country. The Indian
culture, often labeled as an amalgamation of several cultures, spans
across the Indian subcontinent and has been influenced by a history
that is several millennia old. Many elements of India's diverse
cultures, such as Indian religions, yoga, and Indian cuisine, have had
a profound impact across the world.
